Frequently asked questions
Everything about working with nomenclature, payments and restrictions.
The code is determined from the description of the goods: composition, purpose, material and degree of processing. In the service you can search by name or walk down the nomenclature tree — from the heading to a specific subheading. Every position comes with EAEU explanatory notes that say what belongs to it and what belongs to a neighbouring position.
An error in the code changes the duty rate and the list of required permits, so borderline cases are worth verifying against the explanatory notes and classification rulings before filing the declaration.
The set of payments depends on the code of the goods, their value and the country of origin. Usually it is:
- customs duty under the EAEU Common Customs Tariff;
- customs fee for clearance operations;
- VAT on import into Kazakhstan;
- excise — for certain categories of goods.
The calculator works out the amount from the code and the consignment value and takes tariff preferences into account when the country of origin has an agreement with the EAEU.
For every code you can see who imports the goods into the country, which countries the supplies come from, the volumes and how they change quarter by quarter. This helps to find suppliers, size up competitors in your niche and understand how saturated the market is.
The service checks goods against EU, US and Swiss lists as well as control lists of dual-use goods. It shows not only the fact of a match but also what to do about it: whether the supplier needs an export licence and whether the end user is worth checking.
Yes, the container number reveals the route: port of departure, transshipment, current location and expected arrival dates at the border and at the warehouse. The route is tied to the customs checkpoint and the temporary storage warehouse where the goods will be released.
